Dick Johnson
Dick Johnson began in 2014 in a student apartment in Härmälä, Tampere, as a small online shop where founder Leevi sold imported U.S. hair pomades under the original name dick.fi. The Finnish brand is owned by Greasy Fingers Oy and developed from reselling established grooming products to making its own, starting with Pomade Inepuisable that same year. Its public identity combines men’s grooming and polished visual presentation with deliberately provocative humor, a concept Leevi Kangas described in 2018 as pairing exclusivity with below-the-waist humor. The 2016 launch of Ball Wax brought media attention, and each batch sold out quickly. Dick Johnson is especially associated with the Whiskey & Vanilla scent used in Snake Oil, which became its best-selling product in 2015. In 2019, the brand introduced Eau De Parfum Serpent, its first own perfume, based on that scent. At the end of 2023, it released Venomous Vials, a nine-perfume collection whose first batch sold out before Christmas.
