Dita Von Teese
Dita Von Teese is the professional identity adopted by Heather Renée Sweet, who began her own take on striptease in 1992. Her work developed from fetish modeling and pin-up imagery into neo-burlesque performance, with vintage Hollywood and 1940s–1950s glamour as recurring references. That identity extends across performance, fashion, beauty, publishing, spirits, and entertainment production, built around self-created glamour, fantasy, spectacle, and burlesque. She describes her creative purpose as evolving classic burlesque into something new and relevant, using glamour as a route to confidence while presenting diverse forms of beauty. Her full-length touring revues included Strip, Strip, Hooray! from 2013 to 2016, followed by The Art of the Teese, Dita Von Teese and the Copper Coupe, and Glamonatrix. In 2019, she appeared as a guest star in Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show at Paris’s Folies Bergère; a new revue opened at The Venetian’s Voltaire in fall 2024. Her eponymous fragrance was announced in 2011, and its floral debut featured Bulgarian rose, tiare, and peony. In 2017, she collaborated with Douglas Little on Scandalwood, pursuing a less conventional creative direction.
