Established in 1989 as Donna Karan’s next-generation New York label, DKNY was shaped by the city’s energy and attitude and by Karan’s idea of clothing for women whose days move between settings. The brand expanded into a broader lifestyle offering while retaining an identity built around New York, modern tailoring, and ease. In April 2015, Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne became creative directors, aiming to redefine what authentic New York meant for DKNY at the time. LVMH acquired Gabrielle Studio, owner of Donna Karan New York, in January 2001, later bringing Donna Karan and DKNY under its control; G-III subsequently acquired DKNY and relaunched it less than a year later. In fragrance, DKNY Be Delicious launched in 2004 and became strongly associated with the brand’s fragrance identity. Its apple concept developed into a collection of limited editions and related flankers, while DKNY fragrances are now operated through a worldwide licensing agreement with Inter Parfums through December 31, 2032.
