Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton’s public identity developed from Appalachian country songwriting and singing into pop music, acting, business, and philanthropy. After moving to Nashville in 1964, she broke through in 1967 through The Porter Wagoner Show and an RCA recording contract. Her creative milestones include the 1971 number-one country hit “Joshua,” the 1974 number-one songs “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You,” and the 1980 film 9 to 5. Her business and philanthropic work includes Dollywood, opened in East Tennessee in 1985, and the Imagination Library, which distributes one free book each month to children from birth to age five and has expanded internationally. In May 2019, she signed a multi-year agreement with IMG to develop licensed lifestyle products. A long-term beauty licensing agreement with Edge Beauty was announced in December 2020, with fragrance as its initial focus. Dolly—Scent From Above launched on July 28, 2021, as her first signature fragrance and first beauty venture. The fragrance fulfilled a childhood dream of having her own perfume, and later offerings drew on memories of her youth. Dolly Beauty now spans cosmetics and fragrance.
