Domenico Caraceni

Domenico Caraceni made an initial attempt to establish a tailoring business in Rome in 1913 and, after the interruption of war, opened a permanent shop on Via Boncompagni in 1926. The house later expanded from Rome to ateliers in Naples, Paris, and Milan. Its tailoring identity is associated with comfortable, wearable suits that retain recognizable detail and hand craftsmanship. Domenico Caraceni died on August 28, 1940; after the Second World War, the business continued under Galliano Caraceni and later his sons Tommy and Giulio. The Domenico Caraceni name left the family in 1998, when it was acquired by tailor and businessman Gianni Campagna, a former apprentice of the house. By 2022, Gianni Campagna’s daughter Virginia Campagna was guiding the Milan atelier and brand. The first fragrance collection appeared in 2007, followed by the presentation of Domenico Caraceni 1913 Eau de Parfum at Milan’s Esxence in 2022 as a new concentration and reformulation of the original eau de toilette.
