Dr. Hauschka

Dr. Hauschka’s story begins with Dr. Rudolf Hauschka, who founded WALA in 1935 to develop natural medicines. After WALA established itself in Bad Boll/Eckwälden in 1950, Hauschka met Viennese cosmetologist Elisabeth Sigmund in 1962; their collaboration united her botanical formulations and holistic skin-care concept with WALA’s medicinal expertise. The first products launched in 1967 as “Dr. Hauschka Healing Skin Care by Elisabeth Sigmund,” with Sigmund shaping the brand’s creative identity through oil-free night care, botanical formulations, holistic treatments, and the principle that skin care is part of health care. In 1986, most company assets were transferred to the WALA Foundation, and WALA Heilmittel GmbH has since operated under its sole ownership; the structure was designed to protect the company’s founding purpose from inherited or capital-based control. Today, WALA’s two divisions are WALA Medicines and Dr. Hauschka Skin Care. The brand’s identity is tied to natural cosmetics, human needs, and the healing powers of nature, while its product fragrances use compositions of natural essential oils without synthetic fragrance or perfume ingredients.
