Durance
Durance identifies its origin with the Ruth family’s 1997 takeover of a small farm in Grignan, Drôme Provençale, where lavender was cultivated and essential oil produced. Rooted in Provence and named for the Durance river, the family developed the business into two principal activities: home fragrance, including candles and room fragrances, and natural cosmetics, including personal perfumes. Its creative identity centers on Provence-inspired fragrances and care products combining nature, simplicity, and an enduring connection to the region; its fragrances are developed with master perfumers from Grasse, emphasizing natural, authentic accords adapted to the intended diffusion format. The scented candle is Durance’s emblem and signature of fragrance know-how, with more than 40 scents spanning floral, woody, fruity, and gourmand families. In 2010, CM-CIC Investissement entered Durance’s capital through a transaction intended to strengthen its equity and support development as part of a generational transition; in 2018, a corporate merger placed the Durance group under the renamed Provence Nature Développement holding structure.
