EAU de 1974

EAU de 1974 is a hair- and body-care lifestyle brand centered on sensory products, including hair care, styling, hair fragrances, and body-care essentials. Its name refers to 1974, the year associated with Balmain Hair’s creation, whose history began with Pierre Balmain’s collaboration with Dutch wigmaker Dick Guliker; Steward and Richard Guliker later took over the family business. Balmain Hair began licensing the Balmain name for hair products in 1974, expanded from hair extensions into hair care in 2011, and operates separately from the Paris fashion brand, with products inspired by but not created by that house. EAU de 1974 presents itself as a newer extension of this heritage, combining fragrance with everyday hair- and body-care routines and vegan, cruelty-free claims. In an October 30, 2024 article, the brand presented hair fragrance as a central part of its sensory-care approach, represented by the destination-themed trio EAU de Capri, EAU de Hamptons, and EAU de Santorini, created by independent perfumer Cécile Zarokian.
