Eight & Bob
Eight & Bob traces its origin to 1937, when Parisian aristocrat and perfume connoisseur Albert Fouquet created fragrances for personal use with help from his butler, Philippe. During an encounter on the French Riviera that year, John F. Kennedy requested eight samples and, if production allowed, another for his brother Bob, giving the house its name. After Fouquet died in an automobile accident near Biarritz in 1939, Philippe briefly fulfilled orders before World War II interrupted production; final bottles were reportedly concealed inside hand-cut books. Decades later, Fouquet’s formula and production process were recovered, and Eight & Bob returned as a modern niche perfumery Maison. By 2012, the story and fragrance had been sold to investors, while Intertrade Europe launched the brand in North America earlier that year. The Original, also called Eight & Bob, is the brand’s principal defining fragrance, featuring the Chilean-Andes plant Andrea as a central ingredient. It generated requests from Hollywood figures including Cary Grant and James Stewart. In 2013, the brand received ICMAD CITY Awards for fragrance-product and package-design innovation. In May 2025, it announced the Fouquet Collection, combining established creations with new fragrances.
