Elvis Jesus
Elvis Jesus and Co Couture was founded in summer 1997 by designers Kurt Jones and Helen Littler, whose collaboration connected Jones’s London work with Littler’s Manchester studio. The label’s early identity combined sari-inspired fabrics, sharp shapes, and kitsch humour, reflecting the British Asian communities in which its founders grew up. Its name came from Kinky Friedman’s novel Elvis, Jesus and Coca-Cola. The founders described their approach as creating classic, non-trend-oriented collections that could flow across seasons, with made-to-order production preserving each piece’s uniqueness. By 2013, Elvis Jesus had evolved from a graphic-T-shirt company into a lifestyle brand centred on concept, design, embellishment, and reinterpretations of pop culture, with reggae and punk among its continuing musical inspirations. That year, the brand announced its first fragrance collection for him and her: Elvis Jesus For Him and Elvis Jesus For Her, both recorded as 2013 launches.
