Emanuel

Founded in Paris in 1965 by fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro after his apprenticeship with Cristóbal Balenciaga, the house established itself on Avenue Montaigne two years later. Ungaro’s visual language brought together bright colors, prints, draping, and detailed silhouettes. In 1968, he added ready-to-wear, first selling it from the Avenue Montaigne salon before distributing it in the United States and Japan; in 1980, he received France’s Dé d’or haute-couture award. The house introduced its first fragrance, Diva, in 1983. In 1996, Ungaro sold the house to the Ferragamo family while continuing to design collections for a period, and he stopped creating haute couture in 2004 before leaving the house. Ferragamo sold it to an investment fund belonging to American entrepreneur Asim Abdullah in 2005. In October 2021, Interparfums entered a 10-year exclusive global license for Ungaro fragrances, effective January 1, 2022. Diva remains among the legacy scents distributed under the fragrance business.
