Eon Productions
Formed in 1961, Eon Productions is a British production company specializing in film and theatre. Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman created the company to produce the James Bond films, beginning with Dr. No, released in 1962. Eon later broadened its work beyond Bond to include independent films and productions for London and Broadway theatre. In 1995, control of Eon’s Bond series passed from Albert Broccoli to his daughter Barbara Broccoli and stepson Michael G. Wilson. On March 24, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios, Wilson, and Broccoli closed a joint venture under which they remained co-owners of the James Bond intellectual-property rights, while Amazon MGM gained creative control over future Bond productions. The transaction also marked a change in Eon’s public creative identity: Wilson stepped back from producing Bond films, and Broccoli said she would focus on other projects.
