Fragrance house
Erborian
Erborian launched in 2007 as a French-Korean beauty brand founded by Katalin Berenyi and Korean co-founder Hojung Lee. Its concept combined Korean medicinal ingredients and formulation technology with French luxury and safety expertise. The brand built its identity around a hybrid skincare-and-makeup approach, with BB and CC creams presented as representative products. L’Occitane acquired Erborian, which is now part of the L’Occitane Group and is described within the group as its first acquired skincare range with Asian roots. Alongside its Korean-French heritage and emphasis on visible results, Erborian’s public identity links skincare with self-esteem, authentic skin, and rejection of retouching and filters. Fragrance is not its primary category: the brand treats scent as part of the sensory experience of skincare and has worked with fragrance companies in southern France to develop product fragrances.
