Escentric Molecules
Escentric Molecules was co-founded in London in 2006 by perfumer Geza Schoen and creative director Paul White. Its founding proposition was to strip fragrance back to its molecular core, exploring aroma chemicals through art, chemistry, skin and human presence while rejecting conventional gender and fragrance categories. The idea grew from Schoen’s experiments with Iso E Super, an aroma molecule created at IFF in 1973, and produced two related starting fragrances: one built around a high concentration of the molecule and one containing only it. Molecule 01, launched in 2006 and made solely from synthetic Iso E Super, placed the aroma chemical at the centre of the fragrance; it became the brand’s defining fragrance and gained recognition among creative communities. The brand evolved its format by pairing each Molecule fragrance with an Escentric interpretation that supports its featured molecule, while Schoen’s creative work extended into The Beautiful Mind Series and Project Renegades. Escentric Molecules is currently independent and founder-led, and in 2026 marked Molecule 01’s 20th anniversary with the C0DE WITHIN campaign.
