EveryHuman

EveryHuman is the master label for the Algorithmic Perfumery experience and online bespoke perfume service. Its underlying company, ScenTronix, was founded in June 2018 and is based in Breda, the Netherlands. The project grew from artist-technologist Frederik Duerinck’s collaboration with scent designer Anahita Mekanik, who met through the Avant-Garden initiative; Duerinck conceived the generative scent-design machine and Mekanik led scent design. Revealed under the EveryHuman label in 2020 after exhibitions worldwide, the project brings art, science, and technology together in a participatory process where users work with an AI-guided system to create personalized scents. Algorithmic Perfumery received the Septimus Piesse Visionary Award and Sheffield DocFest Alternate Realities Audience Award in 2019, followed by an Interactive Art + Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica in 2020. In August 2026, Natura and FILE Festival presented it in Brazil as a participatory artwork combining AI, perfumery, and visitor input. As EveryHuman’s defining fragrance offering, Algorithmic Perfumery generates individualized scents from user input rather than presenting a conventional fixed signature fragrance.
