Fabessentials by Fabindia

Fabessentials by Fabindia is part of the wider Fabindia story, which began in 1960 when John Bissell founded Fabindia as an export business for Indian home furnishings and handloom products. In 1976, Fabindia opened its first retail store in New Delhi, beginning its domestic operations. The company later expanded beyond textiles, adding non-textile products, organic foods, personal-care products, and crafted jewellery between 2000 and 2008. Its public identity connects Indian rural craft producers with consumers while keeping traditional hand-based techniques relevant in contemporary products. After Fabindia Overseas Pvt. Ltd. took over operations from the US company in 1976, ownership of the US company was transferred in equal shares to Bissell’s children, William N. Bissell and Monsoon L. Bissell, in 1997. The renamed US company, JLB Partners Holding, remains the largest shareholder of the Indian entity, which became Fabindia Limited in 2021. Fabindia presents Fabessential as a personal-care range using natural ingredients and fragrances, including body sprays and organic perfumes.
