Fakoshima

Fakoshima is a Moscow-based brand founded by designer Konstantin Shilyaev in 2013 as an eyewear label before adding a niche perfume line. Its design language is expressed through “simplexity”—the elegant expression of complex ideas through uniqueness and functionality—and the phrase “contemporary classic.” Across eyewear and fragrance, the brand emphasizes gender neutrality and an inclusive approach that blurs stereotypical boundaries. The perfume line emerged from Shilyaev’s collaboration with Yaroslav Simonov, a Grasse Institute of Perfumery graduate and the line’s co-founder and perfumer. In January 2020, their experimental fragrance Tear You Apart was released in a 30-bottle trial run that sold out almost immediately, prompting further development of the line. Refined through six months and 86 versions, it is a sweet, spicy oriental leather fragrance. Simonov’s second fragrance, El Primer Deseo, received the Robb Report Best of the Best 2021 award. By 2024, Fakoshima’s videos were described as creative statements extending its products.
