Farfalla
Farfalla was founded in 1982 by four friends from a Zurich communal circle: Gian Furrer, Paul Gisler, Jean-Claude Richard, and Marianne Richard. They began by mixing cosmetic products in their shared kitchen and selling them commercially, guided by interests in yoga, macrobiotics, naturopathy, and essential oils. The company later developed from its original commune into a Swiss family business carried into a second generation. After a five-year succession process, Malvin Richard took over company leadership from the founders in 2019. During the transition, Farfalla revised its skincare and aromatherapy formulas and packaging, introducing a contemporary butterfly-centered visual identity that won Gold in the 2019 German Brand Award’s Brand Design category. Today, the brand places essential oils at the heart of its products and connects plant-based wellbeing with sustainability and knowledge shared with international partners. Its fragrance heritage includes Aura 1968, described as a classic Farfalla perfume.
