Fifi Chachnil
Fifi Chachnil launched her first collection under the name Chachnil in 1984. Following a 1995 trip to Los Angeles, she pursued lingerie design and launched the Fifi Chachnil house in 1996. As its designer and owner, she shaped the brand around overt femininity, theatrical presentation, humor, and a fantastical interpretation of the Parisian woman. Its visual language draws on vintage silhouettes, cabaret traditions, musicals, classic Hollywood glamour, and 1950s fashion, expressed through theatrical shows in Parisian venues. Fifi Chachnil’s work was included in the Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear, held from April 2016 to March 2017. The house created its eponymous perfume in 2004, a deliberately contradictory composition that moves from citrus to tobacco and amber before settling into a powdery finish.
