Fischersund

Founded in 2017 by siblings Jónsi, Lilja, Ingibjörg, and Sigurrós with partners Sindri and Kjartan, Fischersund is a family-run perfumery and art collective rooted in Reykjavík. It opened to the public in December that year in Jónsi’s former recording studio in downtown Reykjavík, taking its name from Fischersund, the street where the studio and flagship are located. The brand’s creative practice brings together the family’s distinct roles: Jónsi develops perfume formulas, Ingibjörg directs graphic art, Lilja works in photography, and Sigurrós blends and packages the fragrances, while poems and commissioned music accompany the products. Its handcrafted fragrances use Icelandic herbs and oils to connect scent with memory, family lore, poetry, sound, and Iceland’s natural environment. In November 2024, the collective presented Faux Flora, its first exhibition as an art collective, at Seattle’s National Nordic Museum; the immersive work combined scent, sound, sculpture, 3D graphics, and photography. No. 23, inspired by Old Reykjavík and Jónsi’s memories of working with his father around the harbor, is Fischersund’s inaugural and best-selling fragrance.
