Flippo Scorcinelli
Filippo Sorcinelli began with LAVS, an atelier founded in 2001 to create liturgical vestments, furnishings, and accessories for Catholic worship. In 2013, the fragrance brand took shape through the UNUM collection, with its first fragrance released in 2014. The project grew from LAVS’s practice of scenting packages containing ecclesiastical garments; requests for a wearable version led Sorcinelli to develop LAVS as a body fragrance over two years. The brand presents scent within a broader artistic practice linking spirituality, music, Gothic art, photography, fashion, and design. Sorcinelli’s work for Pope Francis’s inaugural Mass in 2013, alongside earlier work for Pope Benedict XVI, forms a major part of his public identity as an artist and organist. LAVS is UNUM’s first fragrance and is identified on the official site as the collection’s best seller. In March 2024, Sorcinelli presented the Memento collection at Esxence, drawing on cathedral sacristies, liturgical objects, relics, and religious memory.
