Folkwinds

Founded in 2022 by Jono Bornstein, Folkwinds was created to spotlight North American-made aromatic materials, designs, and artwork, with scent-scapes intended to capture North American landscapes. The house launched with three fragrances—Santi Ana, American Pharaoh, and Cloud Illusions. Bornstein normally serves as Folkwinds’ artistic director and perfumer, while Rajesh Balkrishnan has led the creative direction of the Sleepy Hollow and Devil’s Garden collaborations. Devil’s Garden is described as the second collaboration with Balkrishnan, a sequel to Sleepy Hollow and an evolution of Cloud Illusions’ olfactory DNA. In 2024, Folkwinds launched By-And-By with Bornstein as perfumer; the fragrance was presented as intended to define the house’s direction and aesthetic for the foreseeable future.
