Fort & Manle
Fort & Manle is a Melbourne-based independent artisan fragrance company founded by Rasei Fort in 2016. A self-taught perfumer, Fort developed his practice by collecting fragrances, experimenting with his own compositions, and exploring attars and fragrant oils. The house’s creative identity brings modern and old-world sensibilities together through references to historical empires, varied cultures, and Fort’s Turkish heritage. Its visual language draws on vintage perfume labels and medieval history, expressed in embossed metal plaques used as labels. Fort & Manle is founded and wholly owned by Fort; its website marks ten years of the house with Portrait of a Ladybird, a commemorative fragrance, and continues to present the brand as a small independent perfumery devoted to craftsmanship. Fatih Sultan Mehmed received Artisan-category finalist recognition at the 2017 Art and Olfaction Awards and reflects the brand’s Ottoman-history creative direction, while Impressions de Giverny was a finalist in 2018. Kolonya draws on Fort’s childhood memories of his grandfather’s garden and cologne.
