Fragrance house
Fragrances of Ireland
Fragrances of Ireland was co-founded in 1983 by Brian Cox and Donald Pratt and began as a family venture. Its first perfume, Innisfree, took its name from W. B. Yeats’s poem; the company launched its Naturally Irish line in 1990. Inis the Energy of the Sea grew from an idea developed in 1997 into a 1998 launch and shifted the business’s focus away from tourism, establishing it as a fragrance house in its own right. Its creative identity draws on Ireland’s landscape, particularly the Atlantic coast: Inis was inspired by Dog’s Bay in Connemara and the feeling of a fresh summer day beside the sea. Today, Fragrances of Ireland is presented as a family-owned, independent boutique perfumery in its third generation. Inis is its signature collection and led the company’s US growth. Since 2001, the company has sponsored the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group, linking its ocean-focused identity with marine conservation.
