Franck Muller

Franck Muller traces its origins to Geneva, where watchmaker Franck Muller and jewel-setting and watchcase specialist Vartan Sirmakes formed a partnership in 1991; the company was incorporated as Technowatch SA that November and adopted the name Franck Muller Watchland SA in 1998. Muller began by restoring valuable watches and, in 1983, presented wristwatches fitted with movements he had created himself. The brand was established around exclusive timepieces with complicated movements and original designs, combining creative forms with high-end mechanical watchmaking. The Cintrée Curvex became its signature silhouette, defined by a three-axis curved case. Muller’s first front-visible tourbillon and subsequent grand complications formed part of the technical identity presented through the title Master of Complications. In 2004, the brand introduced the Revolution 3, described as the first tri-axial tourbillon. A founder dispute began in 2003 after trademark-distribution shares had been transferred to Chronogroup Holding SA in 2000. An agreement announced in October 2004 kept the company under Sirmakes’s leadership, retained Muller as a consultant, and ended the related lawsuits.
