Frankie Morello
Frankie Morello was founded in 1999 by Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti. It began as a menswear label and later extended into womenswear, accessories, beachwear, and children’s lines. The founders framed its creative practice as a meeting of art and fashion, treating imperfection—the flaw—as a central design value. Following a 2016 ownership change, the brand returned to the public fashion calendar while updating its aesthetic under new management and seeking to preserve its original DNA. In 2019, Damir Doma became artistic director, and the label introduced the name and logo treatment “Frankie Morello Milano” as part of a new creative course. The reset contrasted Doma’s more restrained approach with the founders’ earlier fun, cheerful, and eccentric style. In May 2020, the company suspended production of its fall 2020 collection after coronavirus-related order cancellations, while intending at that time to continue backing the label.
