Frederic Fekkai
Frédéric Fekkai opened his first namesake salon inside Bergdorf Goodman in New York in 1989, and launched the brand’s haircare line in 1995 to bring the salon experience into consumers’ homes. Rooted in Fekkai’s French heritage and Paris training, the brand developed an approach centered on customized, effortless styling rather than a standardized signature cut. Procter & Gamble acquired Frederic Fekkai & Co. in 2008; in 2018, Frédéric Fekkai and Cornell Capital announced the acquisition of Fekkai Brands, with Blue Mistral established to own and operate Fekkai alongside Bastide. That return shifted the brand toward vegan and cruelty-free haircare and packaging made with recycled plastic, while its formulas treated haircare more like skincare through benefit-focused ingredients and collaboration with skincare laboratories. Technician Color, the first product Fekkai created, remains a documented bestseller.
