Friendly Fur
Nikolas Gleber launched Friendly Fur in Berlin in 2007 as his first own brand. Founded as a company in 2015, it spans design objects, accessories, clothing, interiors, living products, and perfumery. Its central concept is to collect wild-fur pelts arising from nature-care work and give them a second life through design, presenting the material as an alternative to fur from breeding. The brand brings together urban Berlin design, nature, art, craftsmanship, and certification. Gleber developed its visual and emotional concepts, packaging, and advertising ideas before perfumer Mark Buxton translated them into fragrance. Friendly Fur’s first documented scent, À Rebours, launched at Esxence in Milan in 2012 from Gleber’s concept and was created by Buxton. By 2013, the brand had released À Rebours and The Green Carnation, framing its fragrance identity through a dialogue between urban modernity, heritage, and nature. À Rebours extended that design language through a refillable fur flacon and a concept tied to “green glamour.”
