Furla

Founded in Bologna in 1927 by Aldo Furlanetto, Furla began by distributing women’s accessories. The brand opened its first store on Via Ugo Bassi in 1955. During the 1970s and 1980s, Furlanetto’s children Carlo, Paolo, and Giovanna joined the company, the first Furla-branded bag and accessory collection was created, and international expansion began in Italy, France, and the United States. Furla entered Japan in 1990 and later established subsidiaries in Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong-China, and mainland China. Its identity is associated with Italian design, craftsmanship, color, quality, and contemporary Italian lifestyle. Furla also created the Furla per l’arte award in 1999 and established the Furla Foundation in 2008 to support engagement with contemporary culture. The company remained family-owned in 2015. Furla entered fragrance through a collaboration with Mavive, launching the five-fragrance La Collezione capsule in 2020. Later releases included Autentica, whose bottle drew on the shape of a Furla handbag, and Unica, introduced in 2022.
