Future Society

Future Society was born in 2023 as a fragrance brand created by Jasmina Aganovic. It is the consumer-facing, biology-first fragrance brand of Arcaea, a Boston-based beauty-biotechnology company launched on the Ginkgo Bioworks platform in 2021. Its creative identity, “Expressive Biology,” combines biology, DNA sequencing, and fragrance storytelling to reconnect personal scent with nature. The brand launched its inaugural Scent Surrection Collection on October 2, 2023, with six fragrances developed from DNA sequences of extinct flowers. This collection established a fragrance concept built around reconstructing extinct-flower scent stories through biotechnology. By 2026, Future Society had extended that approach beyond extinct flowers with Cloud Reverie, informed by scent molecules identified through sequencing microbes collected from clouds. A January 2026 brand essay described its creative focus as identity, self-expression, and the continuing process of becoming oneself.
