Gallivant
Gallivant is a London-based independent perfume-maker founded and created by Nick Steward, who previously spent eight years as Product and Creative Director at L’Artisan Parfumeur. Its legal company was incorporated in the United Kingdom on 22 April 2016, and contemporary coverage records the brand’s launch in 2017. Steward established Gallivant to pursue greater creative and personal freedom through a simpler approach to niche perfumery. The house’s central idea is travel-inspired perfumery: interpreting cities through atmosphere, memory, emotion, and the experience of place rather than straightforward postcard imagery. Its aesthetic combines French-inspired classical perfumery with a modern British sensibility in unisex, gender-neutral, thoughtful, and unfussy compositions. Gallivant remains publicly characterized as independent and operating under its own steam. London, one of the launch-era fragrances, was a finalist in the Independent Category of the 2018 Art and Olfaction Awards and has been identified as a likely signature of the house. Los Angeles, created over four years by Steward and perfumer Karine Chevallier, won a global Best Niche Fragrance award. More recently, Gallivant’s Gulf-region-inspired work has combined classical European French perfumery with Middle Eastern influences while retaining a European identity.
