Fragrance house

Goest

Goest is a Los Angeles-based fragrance house founded by perfumer Jacqueline Steele. After studying literature, Steele began studying perfumery in 2010 and later trained in France through visits to perfumers and fragrance laboratories. By April 2014, the house had introduced a six-scent library of narrative perfumes centered on olfactory accounts of people, places, possessions, surroundings, and imagined experiences. Its compositions are intended to work with the wearer’s natural body scent rather than simply cover it. The name combines an archaic English form of “to go” with a phonetic association with “ghost,” a metaphor for fragrance as a transient presence. The library included Dauphine, inspired by Marie Antoinette through associations with skin, soap, flowers, pastries, and perfume, and Grand Tour, associated with basil, cedar, leather, and an Italian family milieu. Goest has also undertaken custom and collaborative fragrance projects for brands and organizations including Totokaelo, Catbird, The Motley, 69, and Assembly New York.
