Good Dearest Unhappy is an independent fine-fragrance house based in Los Angeles that publicly launched on February 14, 2023, with an initial five-scent release. It is a queer, AAPI, female-founded, and female-owned brand founded by Mina, a writer and former English Literature PhD student who began the company after using casino winnings for perfumery classes at the Institute for Art & Olfaction. Its creative identity treats scent as storytelling, drawing on mythology, history, literature, and the natural world while blending imagination with reality. The house describes its olfactory approach as impressionistic, prioritizing the artistic and emotional impact of a concept over a straightforward, photorealistic interpretation. A later fragrance, Caterina’s Dinner Party, was documented as a 2025 release.
