Gorilla Perfume at Lush
Gorilla Perfume launched in 2010 as a Lush fragrance label created by father-and-son perfumers Mark Constantine and Simon Constantine. Its catalogue combined new compositions with older Lush perfumes and fragrances developed for the discontinued B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful line, within a wider perfume history spanning Cosmetics To Go, Be Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, Lush, and the Gorilla era. The work treats fragrance as a form of expression and is pursued without following market trends. Releases were organized in themed volumes: Volume II appeared in 2012, followed by Volume III in 2014. Titled Death, Decay and Renewal, the third volume drew on personal experiences of loss and presented renewal as its central resolution. The Smell of Freedom was Simon Constantine’s first fine fragrance, shaped by encounters with three survivors of hardship and connected by the theme of freedom.
