GOSH COPENHAGEN
GOSH COPENHAGEN traces its origins to Brdr. Tjellesen, founded by Einar Tjellesen on 2 January 1945 as a pharmaceutical wholesaler before expanding into toiletries and beauty. The business entered cosmetics and fragrances in the early 1950s, initially producing for established Danish lines before developing its own brand. The name GOSH was registered after Tjellesen encountered it in a crossword puzzle, and the brand was officially established in 1974. Fragrance arrived early in its branded history with Night in Paris in 1979, followed by its first makeup products in 1982. In 1984, Shocking Pink lipstick sold 45,000 units during one summer. The family-owned Danish company remains independent, with the next generation of the Tjellesen family continuing the business. Today, GOSH COPENHAGEN spans makeup, fragrance, hair care, skin care, and body care, with representation in more than 80 countries. Its fragrance history includes Musk Oil No. 6, dated to 1969 and described as a woody-floral musk and an early unisex fragrance.
