Guerlain
Guerlain traces its beginnings to 1828, when Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain opened the house’s first Paris boutique, offering creams, makeup, and fragrances. In 1853, he created Eau de Cologne Impériale for Empress Eugénie and received the title Official Perfumer to His Majesty. Four generations of the Guerlain family shaped the house’s creative identity, with Aimé, Jacques, and Jean-Paul associated with fragrances including L’Heure Bleue, Mitsouko, Shalimar, Vol de Nuit, Vétiver, Habit Rouge, Chamade, Nahéma, and Samsara. Aimé Guerlain’s 1889 Jicky combined synthetic and natural materials in a landmark transition toward modern, more abstract perfumery. Jacques Guerlain’s Shalimar, created in 1925, is identified as the first amber perfume in history and a house icon. In 1994, Guerlain passed into LVMH’s control. Today, Guerlain is a Paris-founded, Made-in-France beauty house spanning fragrance, makeup, skincare, and craftsmanship, with the Guerlinade as its signature fragrance trail.
