Gumamina

Gumamina is a fragrance side project created by independent perfumers Courtney Rafuse and Marissa Zappas. Conceived as collaborative work separate from their individual brands, it brings together formula development, art direction, and design in a shared creative process. The name was formed in August 2023 by combining the name of Italian singer Mina with “Guma,” a dumpster tag. Gumamina launched in December 2023 with Odette and Odile, two perfumes inspired by Swan Lake. Its identity merges the founders’ fantasy worlds through themes of tragedy and grace. The brand’s defining documented fragrance expression is the Odette–Odile pairing, a two-perfume Swan Lake concept built around the contrast between the white swan and black swan characters. The founders developed the perfumes by sketching formulas independently, exchanging them, and revising one another’s work through completion.
