H₂O Plus
H₂O Plus was founded in Chicago in 1989 by Cindy Melk as a skincare brand built around water-based formulas and sea-derived ingredients, combining marine nutrients with cosmetic technology. In 2006, H₂O Plus became the official amenity brand for Disney resorts in Disney’s first in-room alliance partnership. Melk sold the company on June 3, 2008, to Cordova, Smart & Williams LLC and Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group; POLA ORBIS Holdings acquired H₂O Plus Holdings in 2011, bringing the company into the POLA ORBIS Group that July. A later renewal emphasized clean formulations, efficacy, sensory texture, color, and a light fresh scent, including a reformulation of the Hydration Oasis gel moisturizer. In 2018, the brand withdrew from retail partners to rebuild its positioning. H₂O Plus announced in August 2022 that it would retire by year’s end, with dissolution procedures expected in the second half of 2023.
