Hannibal Laguna
Hannibal Laguna was founded in 1987 as a fashion brand within a small family-run textile company with an artisan tradition. Born in Caracas and having studied tailoring in Milan, designer Hannibal Laguna developed an approach centered on volumetric construction and draping on the mannequin. The house’s first Concorde collection received the Air France fashion award and was selected by Paco Rabanne to represent Spain at Europe in USA; its first runway show followed in Miami in 1988. By the end of the decade, Hannibal Laguna had presented five ready-to-wear collections and was combining them with exclusive made-to-measure designs as it developed its couture direction. During the 1990s, it developed a dedicated bridal direction, presenting bridal couture collections annually at Gaudí Novias from 1997 to 2009. Its creative identity has centered on romanticism, sensuality, femininity, floral references, sculptural volumes, asymmetry, and draping. The house presented its 100th collection, One Hundred, in 2014 and continued showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid in 2025. In 2017, it launched Hannibal Laguna Parfums, a six-fragrance line inspired by its couture collections.
