Happyland Studio

Happyland Studio is an American artisan perfumery based in Toledo, Ohio. E.J. Wells began developing and selling fragrances under the Happyland name in 2019, taking the name from his professional recording studio. As the brand’s founder, creator, owner, and perfumer, Wells gave its creative identity a close connection to his music background, with fragrance concepts shaped by music, cinema, and detailed backstories. Wells died on September 19, 2023. After his death, the small team he assembled continued making the fragrances he created, in keeping with his wish that Happyland Studio continue. In January 2025, his daughter Chloe Michael officially took over the company as creative director and used his notes to develop three new fragrances that year. The site identifies Moore Azul as the second E.J. Wells and Alex Moore collaboration and the brand’s latest release. Happyland Signature, identified as one of the brand’s biggest sellers, features tobacco, honey, blueberry, and apple-pie character. Inlandish, inspired by an album and song by Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Tim Story, further reflects Happyland’s music-linked approach.
