Harajuku
Harajuku Lovers began in 2005 as clothing and merchandise associated with Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers tour. It grew from apparel and accessories into a lifestyle label spanning bags, stationery, jewellery, charms and stickers, with Stefani’s creative direction linking it to her L.A.M.B. fashion line. Its public identity drew on Stefani’s interest in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, especially its youth street fashion, and on the four Harajuku Girls associated with her performances. In 2008, Coty Prestige introduced a five-fragrance collection representing Stefani and the four Harajuku Girls: G, Love, Lil’ Angel, Music and Baby. The doll-shaped packaging gave each scent a distinct character identity, and the collection won the 2009 Fragrance of the Year – Women’s Prestige award from The Fragrance Foundation. In 2014, the fragrance line was refreshed as Pop Electric and produced by GS Fragrance Group rather than Coty. By 2024, reporting indicated that the line appeared to have been discontinued for about a decade, although its exact closure date was unclear.
