Harajuku Lovers
Harajuku Lovers was founded in 2005 by musician and fashion designer Gwen Stefani as an apparel and merchandise line connected to her Harajuku Lovers Tour and debut solo album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Its identity drew on the songs and artwork of the album, as well as Stefani’s interest in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, Japanese street fashion, and youth culture. Before entering fragrance, the line expanded into accessories and novelty goods including jewellery, charms, stationery, and stickers. In 2008, Coty Prestige introduced five doll-bottle fragrances—Love, Lil’ Angel, Music, Baby, and G—representing Stefani and the four Harajuku Girls. Each scent and caricature bottle corresponded to a named character, with G representing Stefani. The fragrance line won The Fragrance Foundation’s Fragrance of the Year Award in 2009. It was reworked as the limited-edition Pop Electric collection in 2014, and by November 2024 the perfumes appeared to have been discontinued.
