Harry Potter
Harry Potter began as a literary property created by J.K. Rowling, with its first book published by Bloomsbury in 1997. By the end of 1998, Warner Bros. had secured the film rights. The property evolved beyond the novels into films, stage productions, games, consumer products, live entertainment, exhibitions and theme-park experiences under the broader Wizarding World identity. Its rights are divided: Rowling retains the publishing and stage-theatrical rights, while Warner Bros. Entertainment owns the Harry Potter characters, names, related indicia and trademarks used across its rights portfolio. Warner Bros. released eight Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011. On 12 April 2023, Max and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new long-form television adaptation of the seven books, with Rowling attached as executive producer and each season planned around one book, alongside the original films. In December 2022, House of Sillage announced a licensed perfume collection developed with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and organized around the four Hogwarts houses.
