Harvey Nichols
Harvey Nichols traces its beginnings to 1831, when Benjamin Harvey opened a linen shop at the corner of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street in London. After his death in 1850, his widow partnered with James Nichols, creating Harvey Nichols. The business was acquired by Debenhams in 1920 and became part of the Burton Group in 1985. Under Dickson Poon, Leeds opened in 1996 and the first international Harvey Nichols store opened in Riyadh in 2000. Across its history, Harvey Nichols developed an identity as an editor and curator of style, selecting designers, cosmetics and lifestyle products with a distinct point of view and often giving less-established fashion houses an early platform. In 2025, Kate Phelan led the creative direction of a Knightsbridge redesign bringing fashion, beauty, art and culture together. On 13 August 2026, Frasers Group acquired the business from administrators, ending Dickson Poon’s 35-year ownership and making Frasers its current owner.
