Hei Poa
Founded in 1976, Hei Poa began when a metropolitan French couple discovered Monoï during a trip to Polynesia and set out to bring its preparation to metropolitan France. Its early identity was shaped by a small glass bottle modeled on reused pharmacy syrup bottles, filled with Monoï and a Tiaré flower immersed in copra oil. The brand evolved from that original product into a broader skincare line while retaining Polynesian traditions, ingredients, textures, and fragrances as central elements of its identity. Its approach translates Polynesian beauty rituals and the heritage of Tahitian Monoï into an everyday French skincare experience. Tahitian Monoï received an Appellation d’Origine by decree in 1992. Laboratoires Gilbert acquired Hei Poa in 2006, and the brand is now presented as part of Groupe Gilbert. Hei Poa is especially identified with Monoï de Tahiti, particularly Pur Monoï Tiaré, its founding product, marked by a Tiaré flower in the bottle.
