Helan
Founded in 1976 by university researcher Elisa Bottini Massa and entrepreneur Enzo Moncalvo, Helan began with natural preparations made in a small artisanal laboratory. The products were first sold through pharmacies with galenic departments, then through herbalist shops as that distribution expanded during the 1980s. Helan’s identity brings together natural cosmetics, traditional herbal knowledge, scientific research, and formulations developed with attention to skin physiology, the environment, and animal welfare. The company grew as a family business, with the founders’ children Malva, Ludovico, and Marco later joining its management. In 1984, Helan introduced the I Colori di Helan makeup line, extending those natural and animal-respect principles into color cosmetics. Today, the business operates as Helan Cosmesi di Laboratorio Società Benefit S.r.l. Its fragrance legacy includes Mandarino & Vaniglia, associated with the brand’s history since 1976 and reimagined for its 50th anniversary as an Extrait de Parfum.
