Hervé Léger
Hervé Léger was founded in Paris in 1985 by designer Hervé Peugnet, who adopted the name Hervé Léger after Karl Lagerfeld encouraged the change. Its defining design is the body-conscious bandage dress, built from stretch-fabric strips, panels, and tubes that shape the wearer’s silhouette. Léger presented his first full collection using the technique in 1991, and the silhouette became strongly associated with the brand during the 1990s. After BCBG Max Azria took over the label, Léger lost control of the house and left in 1999; he later worked under the name Hervé L. Leroux. Max Azria relaunched the label’s version of the bandage dress in 2007. Marquee Brands acquired Hervé Léger and related intellectual property from BCBG Max Azria Global Holdings in August 2017, and Authentic Brands Group acquired the label from Marquee later that year. Authentic currently places Hervé Léger within its luxury and accessible-luxury portfolio through Authentic Luxury Group.
