Fragrance house
House of Puente
House of Puente traces its beginnings to Eliam Puente’s decision to start Puente Perfumes in late 2022, after more than 15 years studying perfumery. He conceived the project as a niche luxury perfume house centered on classically inspired fragrances, drawing on his Cuban roots, life by the sea in northern Spain, and the history of perfumery from the late nineteenth century through the 1980s. Eliam Puente is the house’s founder and creative figure, and its fragrances are associated with him as perfumer. Medusa, the first fragrance, launched in 2022 as a floral-animalic composition; Cafleurebon reviewer Ida Meister placed it among her top ten fragrances of that year. In 2023, the house released Iris Doux and Vespertine together. Its subsequent history was marked by a dispute over control: after Medusa’s launch, a businessman proposed owning and financing the business while Puente worked as creative director and shareholder. After roughly two years of conflict, Puente pursued legal action, briefly gained control, and ultimately saw the partner regain full control. Puente later left House of Puente to focus on Votum, after which the brand’s products and customer communications stopped functioning and its website disappeared.
