Fragrance house
hubertmaes
Hubert Maes grew out of the Lille perfume family business Soleil d’Or, established in 1953 when Jeanne Muyllaert acquired Parfumerie Hurez and renamed it. In its third generation, Hubert Maes steered the shop toward more confidential, creative fragrance brands and helped shape its niche-perfumery identity. Described as a self-taught perfumer, he created four scents inspired by imagined female figures. His own French niche perfume house, Hubert Maes Créations, was founded in 2007; an INPI bulletin records the filing of the company and the Histoire Charnelle mark on 10 December that year. The company was dissolved on 22 December 2012, with its entire patrimony transferred to Soleil d’Or, and it was removed from the Paris commercial register on 15 March 2013. The work’s narrative identity is reflected in Histoire d’un Rêve, a tribute to women of the 1920s and their era’s freedom, joy and exuberance.
