Fragrance house
Huygens
Huygens began in June 2013, when Daan Sins and Sébastien Guerra opened a natural-beauty apothecary in Paris’s Marais district. Its name refers to a historic Dutch family associated with the neighborhood and reflects Sins’s Dutch origins. The brand was created around bespoke natural cosmetics: customers could select essential-oil blends to add to neutral product bases, pairing personal fragrance preferences with aromatherapy-oriented use. Huygens’s philosophy combines product effectiveness with natural ingredients, and its concept expanded into face, body, hair, and home-related offerings. Its fragrance legacy includes Le Parfum Originel, the brand’s first perfume, launched in 2016 and described as a woody composition with vanilla sweetness. In 2023, the former Marais boutique gave way to La French Beauty, a Huygens-initiated collective concept store bringing together independent French beauty brands.
